This was city’s first game back after a humiliating 5-0 defeat in the county cup, and a test of character for city. Surprisingly the confidence was very high going into this game and facing a team who we previously struggled against.
The game kicked off and city set a high temp. Max Bradford and George Crocker dominated the midfield and denied Jormath any time and space to play. The ball was one by Max who put Tony Jacobs through who’s cross was met by Charlie Kirby who slotted home to put city one up 15 minuets in.
City really now started play the ball around with confidence and the front paring of Tony Jacobs with his pace and James page strength caused Jomarth all sorts of problems.
City back four of Charlie Whalley, Steve Ambrose, Sam Sheppard, and Tom Wraight were rarely threatened other than a quick long ball over the top which they dealt with.
Ben Kendel the city goal keeper was rarely called upon in the first half than the odd long shot to deal with. A quick roll out form Ben into the Full back Sam, and a series of passes see our winger Charlie Kirby cross the ball into the run of the in coming Charles Onafecko who slammed home a second for city.
At two nil city were dominant and created a host of chances seeing two great individual goals from James Page and Tony Jacobs being disallowed , even the ref admitted he got this wrong during the half time interval.
Second half was all one way traffic with city asking all the questions. Max Bradford took a heavy challenge and had to be replaced by Lewis Bartrip. After a series of pressure Jomarth did break our defence for the first time all game to and the shot was well saved by Ben. Quick thinking form Ben Kendel see Sam Sheppard play the Ball into Charlie Kirby who then crossed a ball into the box which was 90% in favour for Jomarth keeper. Good anticipation form Tony Jacobs who challenged the keeper and won the header , as the ball dropped he then rounded the keeper to set up James page to score three nil
Substitutes were made with Brad Cleveland, Luke winter, Stuart Cameron, and Harry Bowden all coming on
With the changes City were under a five minuet spell of pressure where Brad Cleveland had to pull off two saves. Once the substitutes settled into the game city were back on the attack and put together a series free kicks and corners which really tested the Jomarth defence. After some great wing play from Tom Wraight and Charles Onafecko the ball landed at the feet of Lewis Bartrip who score a spectacular 25 yard shot to make it four.
We are back on track well done boys!
